How our Radiesse Biostimulator works

Immediate lift with long-term rejuvenation

Radiesse® is an FDA-approved product formulated with calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a smooth gel. Once injected, it works in two stages: first, the gel provides instant lift and contour, restoring volume and structure. Then, as the gel is naturally absorbed, the CaHA particles remain in the skin, stimulating new collagen production, rebuilding firmness, elasticity, and strength from within.

This biostimulatory process continues over time, improving skin quality long after the initial effects, for results that look and feel naturally rejuvenated.

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse® is an advanced collagen-stimulating injectable designed to both lift and revitalise the skin. It effectively targets fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss, making it ideal for areas such as the cheeks, jawline, chin, and hands.

By supporting your skin’s natural collagen framework, Radiesse restores youthful definition and firmness while maintaining a balanced, natural look without overfilling or changing your facial features.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Radiesse is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. This biocompatible substance, similar to minerals naturally found in the human body, provides immediate volume upon injection and stimulates the body’s collagen production over time. This dual-action mechanism leads to long-lasting results, typically lasting 12 to 18 months, as the CaHA microspheres create a scaffold for new collagen formation.

In comparison, hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are made of a naturally occurring substance in the skin that attracts and retains moisture. HA fillers add volume by drawing water to the injection site, offering immediate but temporary results, generally lasting 6 to 12 months. While Radiesse is ideal for deep wrinkles, significant volume loss, hand rejuvenation, and can be hyperdiluted for acne scars and cellulite, HA fillers are better suited for fine lines, moderate wrinkles, and delicate areas like the lips. The choice between Radiesse and HA fillers depends on the specific needs and desired outcomes of the patient.

Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, pain, bruising, itching, and lumps or bumps at the injection site. Serious side effects are rare and these can be discussed with your doctor at the consultation.

The treatment typically takes around 30-60 minutes, but the duration may vary depending on the areas being treated and the individual’s specific needs.

Radiesse typically lasts for up to one year, although some patients have seen the effects last for up to two years. The results of Radiesse treatments are long-lasting due to its collagen bio-stimulator properties, which continue to improve over time as collagen production increases in the body. The longevity of the results can vary depending on individual metabolism and other factors, and periodic maintenance treatments are recommended to sustain the results.

The main difference between Radiesse and Sculptra lies in their formulation. Radiesse is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC)  and works by providing immediate volumizing effects and acting as a scaffold for collagen production. On the other hand, Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and stimulates collagen production by initiating an inflammatory response in the body, with the results becoming visible around one month after the injections.

Yes, Radiesse is FDA-approved for use on the hands to restore age-related volume loss. The treatment helps rejuvenate the appearance of the hands and reduce the visible signs of aging by replacing lost volume in this area.

Radiesse can be used to address loose, crepey skin on the neck and decolletage, in addition to its FDA-approved uses for the lower face and hands. When used for improving skin texture and reducing signs of scars, stretch marks, and cellulite, Radiesse is often diluted before being injected into the treatment area.

Radiesse can be used to address signs of cellulite by improving skin texture and reducing the appearance of cellulite, when the filler is diluted before being injected into the treatment area. It is important to consult with a qualified healthcare provider to determine the most suitable treatment options for addressing cellulite or any other specific concerns.
