Dr. Escobar treats each patient based on their needs to create balanced, well-proportioned lips in harmony with their facial structure as a whole. Hence avoiding the much dreaded “trout pouts” or “duck lips”!
The best way to approach lip augmentation is to go slow and build volume gradually. We like to inject a little dermal filler and then ask patients to wait a week or two. It takes time for the product to integrate with the tissue. As a result, this approach minimises the risk of lip filler migration and creates more natural results.
Injections take about 30 – 45 minutes.
We apply numbing cream on the lips about 20 – 30 minutes before the treatment to ensure patients are comfortable during the procedure. In addition, the filler itself also contains lidocaine (numbing medication).
To minimise the risk of bruising, we recommend that you stop taking the following a week before your treatment: aspirin, ibuprofen, Excedrin, Motrin, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, flax oil, cod liver oil, fish oil, vitamin A, vitamin E and other essential fatty acids. Do not stop taking prescriptions from your doctor.
You may also consider taking arnica supplements 3-5 days before your treatment. Additionally, you should also avoid drinking alcohol a few days prior to your treatment.
